I really enjoyed the Introduction to Damascus Steel course. This was a birthday present from my wife, I didn't really know what I was in for. One of Matt's first questions to ask us what we were going to make out of the damascus steel when we were finished. Later in the day I decided I wanted to make a hammer, so he customised the last heating session for me so I had something appropriate to make a hammer with later on. I found the course fun, and the day went really quickly, an indication of how involved we all were. Matt is a really good people person his method of teaching worked really well for me, his explanations were easy to understand, he helped us get started, then when we understood what we were doing a little better, he stepped back and let us have a go, only stepping back in to guide us when we needed help. I have watched a few videos on forge welding and I thought it was going to be a bit more difficult than this. Matt made it easy and explained the process really well. I would highly recommend that anyone with an interest or even just curious and maybe wants to give it a go, to do one of the courses at Eveleigh. Besides the fun courses, the workshop is full of old and interesting machines, and Matt took the time to answer our questions about the various things we saw in the workshop and the history of them.

Had a blast forging my first hammer! James our teacher made the day incredibly informative whilst making it feel like we were just hanging with the boys. Incredible teacher, awesome setting and fantastic day
