SS13 - Tea Towels on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Description
Learn to weave on a rigid heddle loom by making your own soft cotton cloth that you can take home with you. This class would suit those with some experience with rigid heddle looms as well as adventurous beginners!
Depending on your preferences and finished length your weaving could be used for a hand-towel, tea-towel, bread cloth or sewn into a bag, cushion, purse and so on.
Skills covered will include: warping & weaving on a rigid heddle loom, threading for English Plainweave, weaving with cotton, and tips for dealing with non-elastic yarns.

What you will get
- Depending on your preferences and finished length your weaving could be used for a hand-towel, tea-towel, bread cloth or sewn into a bag, cushion, purse and so on.
What to bring
- Rigid Heddle Loom 40 to 60cm Weaving width. Reed 10dpi (40/10). Please advise if you don't have a loom before the class.
- 160m of 4ply cotton (or Ashford Caterpillar cotton) & 350m of 5/2 cotton in a matching colour;
- warp sticks/cardboard and a stick shuttle.

Emily Travis has been weaving for over ten years, and teaching workshops and classes for five years. She has a background in Building Design, and have always been deeply interested in colour and texture. For her, weaving brings these two elements together in a tangible and intriguing way.
