Six Week Class

Book Now (

Learn the ancient art of Pewter (otherwise known as Metal Embossing). Using a malleable sheet of lead free pewter, you will learn the skills needed to create magnificent artworks that will be nothing like you have ever seen before. With the use of hand held tools, you will raise and engrave different parts of the design to create texture and depth. This is then blackened and polished to achieve an antique, aged look with dramatic shadows.

You do not have to be artistic to create beautiful masterpieces for your home, or as personalised gifts for family and friends. It is one of the most versatile crafts that is easy to learn and most importantly, a very enjoyable and rewarding hobby.

Pewter is a craft that has endless possibilities. Just remember that imagination is the beginning of creation!

During the 6 week course you will learn a variety of pewter techniques such as low relief, high relief, filigree and faces. Four projects will be completed during the course. After the course, you will confidently be able to tackle almost any pewter project you would like.

About the Presenter

Andrea first came to know what pewter was from her mother who in turn learned her skills from a close family friend, an expert in pewter arts and crafts. As they say, the apple does not fall far from the tree and very soon Andrea was completely and utterly absorbed into this wonderful craft. She worked at a Pewter studio in South Africa where she really learnt to refine her skills and began experimenting with different ideas. Upon moving to Sydney Andrea realised that there was no such craft here and felt that it was a great chance to get the art of pewter available to fellow hobbyists who can enjoy the art as much as she does. Pewter is a craft that has endless possibilities. Just remember that imagination is the beginning of creation!

Mosman Community College

Vendor since 2015

Mosman Evening College was established in 1949 when the NSW state government, under the Shared Use of School Premises Agreement, made classrooms and halls in NSW schools available in the evenings for local community groups to conduct courses.

On opening night, 293 students submitted their application for enrolment with classes in Dressmaking, Music Appreciation, Dramatic Art, Weaving, Cooking, and Woodwork & Millinery. Further classes were contemplated in physical education for females and glove making.

Today we offer over 300 courses per term for students of all ages both day and night for members of the Mosman Community as well as further afield. Most of our classes continue to be held at Mosman High School, however an increase in the number and variety of courses on offer has lead to other local venues being used.

In 2002 the college became known as Mosman Community College with the mission of providing lifelong learning opportunities in the local area.
