Description

In this one-day workshop you'll use a neutral background and enhance it using various linens and doilies of your choice. This new fabric will then be made into a linen tote bag ready to go shopping in just one day. 

Students are required to bring: 

  • your own sewing machine in good working order
  • sharp scissors and pins, rotary cutter, ruler, and mat
  • fabric - 50cm main; 50cm lining; 50cm pellon; a variety of linen and doilie pieces for embellishment
  • coordinating sewing machine threads,

Tutor: Deb Layt

Deb is an internationally awarded textile artist who has been in the sewing game for 30 years. She is a well-known tutor and, having owned her own patchwork shop in the past, has a vast array of knowledge. Deb’s practice ranges from traditional patchwork and quilting to innovative textile art. She is always experimenting with different techniques and products, looking for fun and easy ways to express her art. Deb is currently on a journey of repurposing to reduce not only waste but also her extensive collection of fibre products.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

If for any reason you decide that the workshop you have done or are doing does not suit you, then that is a personal decision and no refund will be given.

If Opendrawer cancels a workshop, you will be given a full refund or can choose a replacement workshop to the same value as the workshop being cancelled. You will be notified at least 2 days before the due date of the workshop if cancellation is necessary due to insufficient enrolments.

Terms & Conditions

A $10 admin fee applies to all changes of date/workshop bookings.

Cancellations made within two weeks of the booked workshop will forfeit 50% of the advertised fee - or you may find a replacement student.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the workshop will forfeit the full advertised fee - or you may find a replacement student.

A minimum of five people are required for a workshop to run. Opendrawer reserves the right to cancel a workshop if the minimum booking is not achieved. Full refunds will be given or a replacement workshop offered to the same value as the workshop being cancelled. You will be notified at least 2 days before the due date of the workshop if cancellation is deemed necessary. Unfortunately, due to the workshop timetable, no makeup classes are available.
