Life drawing for Intermediate level students

Over 10 people have attended this class

Drawing Studio 3: Tutor Julian Aubrey Smith

Level: Intermediate

Designed as a continuation of our Drawing Studio 2 programme, this course explores drawing from a life model to connect formal drawing concerns with expressive potential.

Each week we will concentrate on a different aspect of image making, looking at a range of artists for inspiration to explore the materials and techniques we have used in Level 1 & 2, as well incorporating a few new materials.

As in Level 1 & 2, classes will focus on technique and materials in a practical, hands-on manner, combining traditional Life Drawing practices with experimental drawing ideas and mediums.

Participants will build observational and drawing skills, knowledge and confidence over the course and move on to explore contemporary and experimental techniques.

There will be demonstrations and one-on-one guidance throughout the course.

All materials and refreshments are supplied.

Our 4 - week beginners courses in oil painting, drawing and watercolours are designed for the complete beginner, taking you through a series of exercises and building your skills week by week. Students may choose to continue to our Beginners Courses Level 2 and 3 in both painting and drawing..  Ongoing students are supported to help develop their own direction, with optional exercises offered to expand on skills and knowledge, and our Atelier students are assisted in taking it to the next level in professional practice.

Evening classes include wine and refreshments, and morning classes include tea, coffee and cakes. Classes run for 3 hours and basic equipment is available for student use at the studio, including easels, palettes and drawing boards. A wonderful course from start to finish, full of insightful teachings from our teacher Julian, and a range of different tasks that allowed me to build up skills over the entire 4 weeks. Couldn't recommend more highly enough!

Another fantastic class! The space we work in is really conducive to creativity - a beautiful Victorian multi storey building with all its original features intact to create plenty of atmosphere! Julian ,one of the drawing teachers, has the knack to encourage and guide us If we feel a little discouraged or stuck - he has some nifty tips to break through this. I have done several studios in a range of techniques and will certainly be doing more.
