Integrated Pest Management:Reducing Insecticide use with Dr Paul Horne

Description
This presentation is brought to you by SGA's Green Gardening Professionals and Garden Centres of Australia.
The over-use and reliance on pesticides is a major risk for the horticultural industry.
Dr Paul Horne discusses how to reduce your chemical insecticide use by implementing successful IPM strategies.
Paul will explain the concept of Integrated Pest Management as an effective pest control strategy which is not as complicated as most think. He will detail the theory of IPM as a way of using all available methods of controlling pests, without just relying on pesticides, but when they are necessary so they do the least damage to the environment. Paul will also detail practical examples of IPM strategies, appropriate for those working in the industry.

Dr Paul Horne:

Paul is an Entomologist and director of IPM Technologies. He has over 30 years experience working on research, development and implementation of IPM strategies and is recognised both in Australia and internationally as a leader in the field. Paul lectures in Entomology and IPM and has published a number of scientific papers and books. Paul established IPM Technologies more than 20 years ago, and has assisted growers and farmers both here and overseas to improve their pest control measures using IPM.
