Introduction to Screen Printing

Introduction to Screen Printing

Create your own designs to screen print on fabric.

Description

Create your own designs using paper cut stencils for screen printing. Paper cuts stencils are a quick and easy way to design a print and they allow you create multi colour designs by reusing the same screen.

You will learn the  how to cut stencils, set up your print area, mix your colours and  how to use a squeegee to transfer your design to fabric.  You will also learn how to print multiple colours  using both the positive and negative cutouts from the stencils.

Fabric printing inks in a range of colours will be available on the day and you may also mix your own colours.

Cotton calico fabric and a linen tea towel will be provided and you may also bring extra pale coloured or white cotton fabric to print. Additional linen tea towels may be purchased on the day for $10 each

Please note this is a basic screen printing workshop to introduce you to the techniques of screen printing. If you are interested in creating photographic stencils which allow more complex mark making techniques please enrol in the Photo-stencil workshop. We strongly advise beginners to do this workshop first to familiarise yourself with the materials and equipment.
