Watercolour Paint Making Workshop
Description
Overview
This workshop is an introduction to the incredible art of watercolour paint making.
The course will be held over 2 days and cover all the basics needed for you to go home and start making your own paints.
You will be set up at your own workstation and be given all the tools and materials needed to create a handful of lovingly crafted handmade paints to take home with you at the end of the course.
Each participant will learn the fundamental steps involved in watercolour paint making -- everything from safety measures, pigment types, and binder making, all the way to paint grinding, preserving, and storage options.
The course covers:
Day 1:
The first day will begin with a brief overview of the history of traditional paint making, an introduction to the tools and ingredients you’ll be working with, and then launch straight into the preparatory stage of making a watercolour binder. After that we’ll move on to grinding your first paint and end the day by beginning to fill your paint into pans.
Safety measures and best practice will also be covered throughout.
Day 2:
The following day will start by continuing the process of filling your paint pans from day 1. After that you will then continue making paints using a selection of different pigments. This will provide you with a full range of colours and the experience of grinding different pigments. By the end of the course you will have a selection of handmade paints (averaging around $100-$200) to take home with you.
PLEASE WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES AND SHOES YOU DON'T MIND GETTING DIRTY.
No prior experience is needed. Perfect for beginners.
