Leather Orchids with Stephanie Spencer



Description

During this 6 hours class students will learn the basics of French flower-making to make Stephanies signature leather Orchids. Students will prepare, cut, tool and assemble their leather to make a series of Orchids to adorn their next hat or to mount onto an aliceband. The French flower making techniques learnt in this class can be adapted and applied to almost any vareity of flower.

10-4 with .5 hr lunch break

What you will learn
  • How to stiffen, cut, shape and prepare Orchid petals
  • How to wire and assemble Orchids
  • How to professionally mount finished Orchids to wear with comfort
What you will get
  • Orchid patterns for your personal use
  • Your finished garland

What to bring
  • Soft Kid or sheep skin in your choice of colour (a small selection will be available for purchase on the day)
  • Small sharp scissors such as embroidery scissors
  • Acid free PVA glue (available for purchase on the day)
  • A large mixing bowl
  • A hairdryer
  • Fine jewellery wire
  • An awl
  • 1m x 19 gauge millinery wire (available for purchase on the day)
  • French flower making tools (avail for purchase on the day and a small selection will be available for use in class on the day)
  • A sand bag
  • Screwdriver
  • Long nose pliers
  • Plate to put hot tools on
  • Soldering Iron (40W) if you are using the electric tools
  • Starbright braids ( available for purchase on the day)
