Pants Fitting Masterclass

Pants Fitting Masterclass

Let us help you become a pants fitting pro!

Over 10 people have attended this class

Getting the right fit in pants is a Sewists ultimate goal.  Let us help you become a pants fitting pro!

Debra Ryan joins us for our first advanced sewing weekend to take us through how to fit our pants to our unique and wonderful bodies.

Pants fitting is all about analysing our bodies to make the necessary adjustments and then fitting and fitting again.

We'll be using the Hollywood trousers by Liesl + Co (size 0-20), or the Calder pants by Cashmerette (size 12-32) to make sure we cater for all our special bodies.  A pattern will be waiting for you in class.

Here is what to expect from the class:

Day One

  • Measuring our bodies and choosing the right size
  • Analysing our bodies to make necessary adjhustments
  • Making those flat pattern adjustments
  • Making a toile to check adjustments and refining them
  • Tweak and Toile again!

Day two

  • Make final adjustments to the pattern
  • Cut out our final fabric
  • Begin to sew up our pants - learning tips and tricks from Debra along the way!

Once you have these skills mastered, you'll have a wardrobe full of amazing pants that fit and you feel fabulous in!

Skill level: This is a more advanced class so you will be a great grasp of sewing and construction, and confident with patterns and understanding pattern instructions, and confident using your machine.  Above all, have a readiness to toile and toile again!

 Dates Available:

  • 11 & 12 September - 900am to 330pm

Debra trained as a TAFE teacher of Fashion at East Sydney TAFE and taught a wide range of Fashion courses for TAFE NSW for sixteen years in regional NSW.

She later moved to Sydney in 2000 to work in a small business as a patternmaker/cutter, creating custom-made garments and custom alterations for individual clients, and continues to do so.

Debra also taught the Needlecraft Certificate at TAFE and is a passionate embroiderer and member of the Embroiderers Guild NSW.

I have always been curious about the sewing classes at the Usefulbox. I finally signed up for the pants fitting masterclass as I just could not conquer this on my own. I am so glad I did. So many tips for my general sewing sewing practice as well as a tailored block for pants that actually fit. Deb was patient and an skilled teacher. She knows her stuff. The group was small and fun. It was so nice to spend the weekend with likeminded sewists. thanks Caz

Such a great class! Wonderful instructor, knowledgeable and friendly. Fitting can be emotional but the environment was so supportive it became much easier

This was a wonderful sewing weekend, we’ll worth the time and money. Deb is an excellent teacher, a fountain of knowledge and experience. I came away with a pair of pants that fit my body shape beautifully and a pattern I can use again with notes on how to adjust for style change for future sewing projects. Cazzas space is always a bright place to work in, comfortable and cozy even on a cold winters day. I would do the class again in a heart beat.
