Stitching Loops
Description
Get truly expressive with textiles in this fun one-day workshop that will teach expression and individuality through stitch!
Using material off-cuts and swatches, beads and specialty threads, we'll create gorgeous tactile embroidered artworks that can be hung on the wall, or sewn onto other surfaces later on.
Experienced tutor Alexandra Murphy will guide us on how to select our own natural fibres, felt scraps, buttons and yarn to compose our designs, and then learn the techniques for ways of embroidering and stitching our creations into place. Plus, the hoop is yours to keep so you can continue embellishing your creation by adding more layers at home!

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.
We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.
Set within park-like grounds amongst historic winery buildings. Open Monday to Saturday, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.

Your Teacher
Alexandra is a practicing artist, living in the bush in a tiny home crammed with an eclectic mix of found items, treasures, collections, and rubbish ready to be repurposed into art. She likes to create very neat and tidy, pretty art that is the opposite of the tornado style in which she lives her life!
Alexandra uses her arts practice to exercise accepting mistakes and imperfections. She loves learning new things and feeling inspired, and often becomes obsessed with the creative projects that she is so adept at planning, hoarding and collecting materials for.

ADULTS, YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S CLASSES/WORKSHOPS ENROLMENT POLICY
- A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking.
- Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
- Cancellation by participant up until 7 days before the workshop commences results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
- Cancellation by participant within 7 days of the workshop commencement date results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 30% admin & booking fee.
- Cancellation by participant on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given.
