SCA Coffee Roasting - Foundation (1 Day) $700
Description
This coffee roasting course will give you a fundamental understanding of the roasting process and the key determining factors in heating control, the roast cycle, process logging and how to control basic sensory aspects of the coffee by roasting lighter or darker. This course is ideally suited for people new to the coffee industry or those looking to gain an insight into the broad subject matter of roasting coffee.
You will learn:
- Heat transfer - Avoiding fires.
- The basics of the roasting cycle.
- How to control heat in a roaster.
- How to repeat a roast profile.
- How to complete a roast log.
- Green Coffee moisture content
- The basics of 1st Crack and why it is a critical point in the roast cycle.
- The importance of how roasted coffee is cooled.
- Basics of light, medium, and dark roasting.
Students who successfully complete the online exam after the course will receive the internationally recognised SCA Roasting Foundation certification. SCA Roasting Foundation certification earns credit towards the SCA Roastery Diploma.

If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.

- A refund can be requested 14 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$20.00 applies.
- A transfer can be requested anytime before the class starts. Free of charge.
No changes will be allowed after these times.
