This isn't your typical paper crane and and stars origami workshop. The Kami Paper team is always keen to develop new skills and our Kabuki and Kimono Origami Workshop, presented by Chieko Yamazaki Hester, is perfect for artists or beginners looking for something new to add to their repertoire.
We are thrilled to have Chieko host and teach in our live streaming workshop.
The class will workshop the creation of Kimono and Kabuki costume models with paper. These costumes spring from traditional Japanese culture, and are an unmistakably distinct tradition since the Nara period (710-794) until today.
Growing up in Japan, Chieko has always held a fascination and enthusiasm for origami -- beginning when she was 6-years old, when her father taught her to fold her first paper crane.
Origami is an ancient cultural discipline, reflective of both the complexity and simplicity of nature and the world around us.
Knowledge Required: Perfect for those with a basic grasp of Origami. It is a great indoor activity idea for individuals, couples, groups of friends and kids (minimum 14 years old).
You can either participate with the group or book a private session.
