Mornington Peninsula Artist Philip Coates will be offering Term 1 Watercolour painting classes at Oak Hill Gallery this year.

Philip’s watercolour painting classes will introduce you to a fresh, free-flowing approach bringing your watercolours to life.  He will teach you to apply the paint with purpose, taking care of essentials such as composition and tone.  You will attain a new found confidence working with this fantastic medium

What to bring

  • People starting to learn watercolour painting will need the following list of items for their first lesson if they wish to start painting on that day. • Watercolour paper. Buy an A4, 180 gsm paper in pad form. “Rough” finish paper for a better effect. • A flat 3 ply or similar board painted with a mat white paint covering. Size approx.400 mm by 300 mm or similar. I have had these made and could be supplied for the second lesson at a cost to me of $10. • A selection of 3 to 4 brushes from small round to 25 mm wide & several pencils 2B & 4B. A good quality eraser (Faber-Castell or similar) • A roll of masking tape. “Bear” interior 24 mm wide sold by Bunnings. • Pigments. You have a choice of Student paints (The cheapest) or Professional (Quite expensive but offer the best coverage) • A kitchen sponge & a tea towel or a small hand towel • Two plastic contains with lids (Like an empty Peanut Butter container of 500 grams or larger). • An empty plastic egg container or similar for holding mixed paints • A small hair dryer that could be shared between students. • A small spray bottle. There may be other items which you find you may need but the above list will get you up & going. Kmart, Spotlight and Lincraft in Mornington have lots of painting accessories you could use.

Oak Hill Community Arts Co-operative Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers under the direction of a Board of Directors, and operates Oak Hill Community Gallery as a community access ‘space-for-hire’ showcase of affordable art.

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a full refund.

If you can't attend the class:

  • A refund can be requested 7 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
  • A transfer can be requested 7 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
  • A credit note can be requested 7 days before the class starts. Free of charge.

No changes will be allowed after these times.

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Oak Hill Community Arts Cooperative Ltd or organised by Oak Hill Community Arts Cooperative Ltd must agree to these terms and conditions.

1.) LIABILITY WAIVER

I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Oak Hill Community Arts Cooperative Ltd

2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give Oak Hill Community Arts Cooperative Ltd unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Oak Hill Community Arts Cooperative Ltd  classes and events or on Oak Hill Community Arts Cooperative Ltd premises. (For use of Oak Hill Community Arts Cooperative Ltd marketing materials).
