Highly experienced teacher! I learned a good foundation before starting to shoot. The teacher was really great at explaining the different concepts, and showing us how to use our camera with real simple but effective examples. I would highly recommend the course to anyone that wants to learn how to use their camera to take great photos on manual mode! I was a complete newbie - I only got my camera for my birthday a month before the workshop! And I feel confident to take photos on manual mode and set the right composition.

This workshop was perfect for where I'm at in my photography journey, which is pretty much the beginning. I was nervous that it might be a little advanced considering I didn't even know what the manual settings on my camera were let alone what they did. The workshop was structured in a way where you learnt and practiced one element at a time allowing the learning to come to life literally right in front of you. It was perfect for me. Thanks Penny for an insightful learning experience, I definitely feel far more confident and excited about photography!

Penny was very knowledgeable. However I think she forgot which class she was taking as we were all very new to our cameras. And on talking to the other class members it was very over our heads and I walked away felling more scared about turning off auto. I thought we would see more laneways than one and arcades 2 blocks isn’t much of a city experience. Penny needs to understand how to teach classes not tell us what we are doing wrong in a dogmatic way. Teaching is an artform.

Hi Dian,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am very sorry to hear you were disappointed. This course is designed to get off auto and make the most of the manual settings by matching locations to practise without having to waste time walking from location to location. I have had 2 of the students email me and say they loved the course and have already re-booked into another class. I feel terrible you felt I was dogmatic, this was not my intention and I am sorry if you felt I was. As you missed some of the course I did try my best to catch you up and I know you had a different camera than you wanted as you had trouble charging your favoured camera. I've been running these classes over 10 years very successfully and am very sad to hear you were left feeling confused. I'd be happy to give you a free private 1 hour lesson if you like to help you understand the settings on your camera better.
