About RSPCA Victoria

We are a non-government, community based charity that works to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection. RSPCA Victoria was established in Melbourne in 1871. Since this time, the RSPCA has become Australia's leading animal welfare charity.

Our community services include work in education, advocacy, animal care and protection. In Victoria, we operate nine animal Adoption Care Centres and one community pet care centre, providing refuge and care to more than 20,000 animals every year.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on community support to care for 'all creatures great and small'.  More than 90% of our funding is due to the generous support of the Victorian community.

It was a great experience. I loved seeing the animals in the barn and I learnt lots of new information, like horses have to go to the dentist! -Evie, age ,9

It's great that they're offering this free as something for the kids to do in the holidays and I do appreciate that. However, the barn tour consisted of only 2 types of animals (ponies and guinea pigs) which was a bit disappointing. Maybe we expected too much! The ladies delivering it were great, it was informative and interactive. Saying that, almost half of the just over 60 min tour was PowerPoint presentations about the RSPCA and about what we could do to support them. Again, I appreciate they're capitalising on a captive audience, but it just seemed a little unbalanced when you've got kids excited to see lots of farm animals. I really want to give more stars because I hate leaving negative reviews, but to me it just wasn't what I expected.
