Pot Painting with Hussein Zobea
Description
Come and learn the art of painting with Iraq born Hussein Zobea.
Hussein graduated from Baghdad Art University in 1979 and has been living in Australia for 13 years. His own artwork draws on memories of his home city and cultural background. Through his painting on pots, wooden boards and other household items, Hussein creates colourful and functional objects that inject pattern and colour into a home.
Inspired by the love of Indigenous art and the combination of his own art techniques and traditions, Hussein incorporates flowers from his home-country, along with other images that remind him of home.
During this one day workshop, you will learn the art of painting a pot, in the style of Hussein Zobea. He will share his story with you, teach you how to use colour and pattern through paint and support you in creating your very own painted plant pot.
In the first half of the workshop you will design and start painting your pot. In the second half you will finalise the painting and varnish your pot.
Come and learn something new from a culturally and linguistically diverse artist - have fun, share ideas and get creative together!
Please note: You can purchase a pot from Space2b. Paints and paint brushes are supplied
