Description

This a specialised 1 day workshop focusing on painting landscapes with a contemporary twist! You will learn about how to sketch, using perspective, colour and tones to create your own contemporary watercolour landscape.

You will learn the process of creating a watercolour painting / illustration and explore the use of the watercolour palette - which brushes, how much water and what washes to start with. How to interpret a landscape into a modern watercolour landscape. This is the opposite of a traditional landscape workshop and lots fun and creativity.

This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience wanting to learn more about creating landscapes with watercolour.

Stefan Gevers has been running Contemporary watercolour  classes in Melbourne since 2009. He is a professional, award winning, exhibiting artist with over 25 years experience. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Over the years Stefan has taught accredited courses at CAE and TAFE with excellent student feedback and has run workshops and masterclasses  Internationally and Interstate.

Stefan's work with watercolour typifies the creative and design style of his original homeland with his approach to minimalism and subtraction. He takes a contemporary approach to working with watercolour.  His work is inspired by the natural environment & delicate shifting patterns in nature are often a starting point for his paintings. 

Stefan’s work has been collected by the Victorian & Queensland State Libraries, Artbank the NAB collection, and numerous private collections throughout Australia and Europe. He has been awarded the Yerring Station Sculpture prize & the Banyule Art Prize "environment Award.

Stefan exhibits widely as a solo artist and as part of collaborative exhibitions.

This was a great session. Well structured for beginners as well as for those with some experience. Stefan paced the day well and provided excellent demonstrations and feedback to participants. Plenty of easy space for everyone too. I learned how to relax more with this wonderful medium and thoroughly enjoyed the day.
