Responding to Art with Poetry
Description
Enjoy the energy that is created as one art form reacts to another. Explore the current exhibition and ways of responding with words and poetry. Read examples of ekphrastic poetry (poetry responding to art) and be guided in a mindfulness exercise to become more centred and able to see and perceive in the present moment. Then have a go at writing exercises in response to artworks in the current exhibition. No experience necessary and sharing of writing will be optional.

Your Teacher
Gabrielle Higgins, founder of Mud Brick Poet, is a bookbinder and poet and enjoys writing ekphrastically, in response to art.
Both her enthusiasm and her encouraging approach ensure participants feel welcome and enjoy a sense of play and discovery in workshops she facilitates.
Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
- A refund can be requested 2 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$5.00 applies.
- A transfer can be requested 2 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
- A credit note can be requested 2 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
No changes will be allowed after these times.

Disabled access is available at the rear of YAVA, enter via Furmston Lane. Otherwise suggested parking locations are:
- Shopping Centre carpark (3 hours)
- Furmston Lane (all day parking)
- River St Carpark (all day parking, access via Green St)
- Taber Lane (all day parking)
- other street parking, just check the signs.
Find us from the main street, near the pedestrian crossing, up the stairs in between Country Smart and Miss Spelt (see our balcony upstairs)
