(+2 more dates)
Description
Learn the foundations of pottery and wheel throwing, in this 6-week introductory pottery course in the heart of Collingwood!
Limited to 8 participants, our classes are smaller than most. Plus, we offer the additional value of a 2.5 hour length class where you will be taught the foundation skills needed to make functional vessels on the wheel.
This workshop is fun, informative, and experiential. You will get lots of personalised tuition and a chance to experience the relaxing power of clay in your hands. We do not limit the number of peices you make in class.
With the guidance of our experienced ceramic tutors, you will learn the basics of pottery in an encouraging environment. Starting with a slab of clay, you'll turn it into an amazing unique piece of art! In the course you will learn how to wedge, centre, form vessels on the pottery wheel and finish pieces by trimming, decorating and glazing. You will also be introduced to the basics of ceramics theory and good pottery studio art studio practice (including OH&S guidelines).
During this 15 hr course spread over 6 weekly x 2.5 hour sessions, you'll focus on making functional ware such as cups, bowls and vases. You'll get lots of individual tuition and a chance to practice your skills alone.
This is a beginner-friendly course. People with prior knowledge are also welcome and challenged to take on more complex projects.
After completing the pottery workshop, you have the chance to continue making work in Little Woods Studio's self-guided 'open studio' sessions with the option of getting your pottery pieces fired in our kilns.
