Pattern Play - Print a tea towel
Description
In this 3 .5 hour hands-on workshop you will have access to a range of simple blocks made from recycled materials as well as being able to create your own. The blocks will be used to create multi-coloured designs and can be used as way to experiment with surface patterns. We will use Permaset water-based fabric printing inks on cotton fabric to test your pattern ideas and a fine-quality linen tea towel for your final design. You will also learn about basic colour mixing and heat-setting printed fabrics.
This workshop will be run by Julia Raath. Julia has extensive experience as a designer and teacher of textile design and screenprinting at major institutions in Australia and India. She produces a range of fine-quality cotton scarves which are block printed and a range of screen-printed tea towels. Julia brings her passion and enthusiasm for all things print to this fun session.
