Many artists from the Blender have achieved great success in their research and practice.

There has always been a heavy research influence at the Blender. There is a lot of discussions and constructive criticism.

Over the years there has been many Blender artists working in a variety of mediums, who have achieved major critical success.

In early 2004 the Blender closed, to be opened again in 2007 in the same place. The climate of the Australian art scene had changed and as the Blender re-opened its doors it was clear that the Blender was also going to be different. We still have a strong link to street art with some of the most famous and prolific street artists calling the Blender home.

The Blender has changed now, it has become more of an art complex with 18 studios, an artist in residence program, the Blender laneway street art project, the Melbourne Propaganda Window, Dark Horse Experiment and The Melbourne Street Tours

09 January 2019 • Stencil Art Workshop

We are so pleased we took part in the stencil workshop at Blender Studios with George. His instruction and inclusivity to all participated was fantastic, and the time flew. An accomplished and prolific artist in his own right, he was so open and sharing, as was Damian and Piya. We were not only made extremely welcome but also offered yummy vegetarian refreshments. Would highly recommend this workshop and experience, you will come away with a lovely stencil, a piece on canvas made from your stencil and enough skill to start making more straight away! Viki and John Murray

28 September 2018 • Kids Freehand Street Art Workshop (ages 10+)

My daughter (aged 10) said the 3 hours felt like 1 because she was having so much fun. I was astounded at the quality of the art produced by the kids. I would recommend this workshop to anyone interested in letting their child explore a different type of art. Was worth every cent.

22 September 2017 • Stencil Art Workshop

The stencil workshop is highly recommended at Blender Studios. Within the intimate setting of the art space we were guided through a tour of the working spaces of the many resident artists, each having their own style. From there George provided us with a history of how the stencil art form came to be and the pioneers of Melbourne's scene. Then we were given a run down of the various stenciling techniques available to get us in the right mindframe in developing our own piece of art. The class gives you with the confidence to be able to paint on your own and knowing that you part with a great understanding of can control. Be sure to allow yourself enough time to get to the studio as it can be a little tricky to find depending on which way you enter the shopping complex.
