Now that you’ve finally got your hands dirty with clay we know you’ve been waiting to jump right back in! We know how much you love learning from EJ, so we've built this class for her to take you on your next clay journey.
This 6 week course allows us to delve deeper into the medium since we’ve got more time and you have a little bit of experience under your belt from the Intro to Ceramics class. The types of projects we'll be working on are as follows:
- Centering clay properly
- Throwing bigger lump of clay
- Off the hump throwing
- Combining wheel throwing and hand building
- Making handles
- Sgraffito and other surface treatments
You will get more time on the wheel, throwing bigger, better in new shapes and forms, and you will also have time to work on your own projects.
This course will give you the skills and confidence to start working more independently in our ceramics studio. You never know, you might fall in love so much that you abandon your day job and become a MakerSpace & Co. ceramics member!
PLEASE NOTE: No classes are run on public holidays - if a date in your term class falls on a public holiday, that week is skipped.
About our teachers:
Minji Song - Ceramics Manager - Monday & Tuesday night classes
Born and Raised in South Korea, Minji has a background in Fashion Design. She first began taking pottery classes then never stopped working with clay ever since!
She has been exposed to many different clay studios and artists in the United States, South Korea, and Australia adapting different techniques and skills in pottery. She likes to explore shapes, forms, and textures with clay especially on a wheel with her fine attention to details and design skills.
PLEASE NOTE: Our classes don't run on public holidays, so if a course includes a date that is a public holiday, this date is skipped and the lesson is made up the following week. We also don't provide make up classes for this course, so please make sure that you are able to commit to all four lessons.
