Maker Therapy at Home - Ceramics
Ah COVID, the spoiler of all the fun! All those classes you were going to do, all those nights out. Now what do you do with all that spare time? Dive into some Maker Therapy at Home with MakerSpace & Co of course!
We figured that you couldn't come to us, so we are coming to you. We'd love to help you learn a new skill, that will hopefully become a new hobby, that will allow you to wile away the hours getting back to basics and using your hands.
We love to connect people with the joy of making. Not only is it fun, but the mental health benefits of making helps to decrease stress, relieve anxiety and modify depression. We think that there has never been a time that we need this more.
This super fun ceramics kit gives you a great ceramics project to start with, something a bit different to making a mug or a vessel. You not only get enough clay (2kgs!) to make a couple of pieces, but you also get set of clay tools that you can use for this and virtually all hand building projects. You also get easy to follow instructions, that go through the project step by step, with lots of photos to guide you.
Our super talented Ceramics guru, Minji, will guide you through the process, but the best bit is that you get to decide how you will decorate it. We want to help you fire up your creative juices and see what you come up with! Most of all, we want you to enjoy the process of making something with your hands!
We will be building on the project in the following weeks, but in the meantime you have enough clay to have a play around with, so you never know what you'll produce just by playing around.
The cost of the kit includes the firing of your pieces. Your instructions will give you the details on how to organise this.
Minji Song - Ceramics Manager
Born and raised in South Korea, Minji has a background in Fashion Design. She first began taking pottery classes then never stopped working with clay ever since!
She has been exposed to many different clay studios and artists in the United States, South Korea, and Australia adapting different techniques and skills in pottery. She likes to explore shapes, forms, and textures with clay especially on a wheel with her fine attention to details and design skills.
