Maker Therapy at Home - Lino Cut Print Making
Ah COVID, the spoiler of all the fun! All those classes you were going to do, all those nights out. Now what do you do with all that spare time? Dive into some Maker Therapy at Home with MakerSpace & Co of course!
We figured that you couldn't come to us, so we are coming to you. We'd love to help you learn a new skill, that will hopefully become a new hobby, that will allow you to wile away the hours getting back to basics and using your hands.
We love to connect people with the joy of making. Not only is it fun, but the mental health benefits of making helps to decrease stress, relieve anxiety and modify depression. We think that there has never been a time that we need this more.
This kit will introduce you to the wonderful world of Lino Cut Print Making. You will learn how to carve your own linocut design, and how to print a series of greeting cards using your design. Perfect for creating your very own Christmas or art-style greeting cards!
This kit will walk you through designing your own motif, how to transfer the design onto the Lino sheet, how to use linocut tools, how to use the ink, and how to print press to print your cards.
You will finish the class with a personally designed linocut that you can continue to use for other projects as well as a number of printed cards.
Plus, you will have the skills and tools needed to continue this craft.
Linocut printmaking is a low-cost, traditional but simple form of printmaking that you can easily set up at home. Once you learn the basics, you have the opportunity to explore and experiment with the materials.
But be warned: It's addictive!!!
Sara Buchner - Print Making and Ceramics Teacher
Sara started printing with lino in 2017, when she began experimenting with flooring offcuts and how these could be used for printmaking. At first making small scale simple prints, often monochrome and resembling children's book illustrations. With time making larger, multi-colour prints.
In 2019 during an artist residency in Ireland, Sara started experimenting with reduction prints and how to merge different disciplines with printmaking. Check out Sara's incredibly array of work at Silvesterart.com
