Description

Join Alena- our queen of hand lettering- as she shares her passion for the craft and teaches your the key skills you need to be confident in brush lettering.

We get stuck into the nitty-gritty,  doing warm of drills to introduce you to the pressures and strokes of the brush pen. Once that's all in place, each letter of the alphabet will be descontrsucted into strokes to help you understand how each letter is formed. Getting these basics under your belt mean having the technical knowledge to go away and be wildly creative with your own lettering projects!

You'll not only leave with confience and key skills of lettering, but we throw in your very own set of brush pens and a workbook so you can letter to your hearts content at home. And once you've mastered the basics and become a bit addicted, make sure you check out Alena's follow up intermediate brush lettering session to further your skills

Teacher Profile:

Alena is a Sydney-based graphic designer and a self taught Hand Letterer/Calligrapher. Her passion for anything hand written started from younger years, when back in Russia her mother taught her cursive writing. This passion grew stronger during her studies at University whilst she was studying Bachelor of Visual Communication.

Overwhelmed by how much the digital era is taking over, Alena picked up the brush pen, the nib pen and started learning the art of brush lettering & calligraphy. Now she is eager to pass this skill on to people who are eager to learn this art, as she believes that writing with our hands is a skill that should never be replaced by a font/typeface.

This was my first time attending a workshop at Work-Shop and definitely won’t be my last. Beautiful studio, really great class structure and beverages to keep us going. The tutorial was brilliant and felt like I walked away having gained new skills and appreciation for the art form. I think we also underestimate the value of spending time with likeminded creatives, everyone in attendance was lovely and happy to be there. Can’t wait for my next workshop now!
