Slow Stitching - Log Cabin Patchwork

Pick up a needle and thread and lose yourself

Description

Pick up a needle and thread and lose yourself in the meditative process of slow stitching.

Textile artist, Tamara Russell, will show you how to make a simple Log Cabin patchwork design, combining precious scraps of fabric. Learn simple running stitch techniques for connecting pieces to form a background, before adding stitch patterns or a simple stitched silhouette, like a flower or foliage, as a finishing embellishment.

Drawing inspiration from the textiles of India and Bangladesh in Kantha work and Japanese Sashiko stitching, select from a range of vintage textiles to create the background for your artwork or you can bring your own textile treasures.
