Learn needle felting, textile sculpture and all about the magical qualities of wool at this fun, creative workshop with the team from Liz Mitchell's Wool Revolution Studio.

Join us for an immersive workshop where we'll explore the realms of imagination to create our very own imaginary felted friend!

Created by fashion designer and wool-activist Liz Mitchell, this whimsical youth workshop encourages exploration with structural form, texture, colour and detail while gaining an understanding of the felting process from beginning to end.

Along the way we'll learn all about the qualities of natural New Zealand wool and how to needle felt it into a 3-dimensional likeness. To complete our companions, we'll use hand-sewing techniques to add finishing touches and character details to bring our felted friends to life with personality and charm.

Your Teacher

Liz Mitchell MNZM is New Zealand’s leading bespoke fashion designer. Her love of wool has extended from fashion into the development of homewares using New Zealand strong wool. Felting is the oldest textile-making technique in the world, utilising just wool, soap, and water.

As a strong advocate for sustainability and NZ strong wool, Liz has been exploring the processes of both wet felting and needle felting, using wool as her medium.
