All Inclusive Wheel Taster Class

A single class, designed to teach new students the basics of throwing on the wheel

When: Thursday Evening 6pm to 8.30pm

What you will learn:

  • How to centre your clay on the wheel
  • How to form cylinders
  • How to create simple bowl forms

When you choose this class you get to skip most of the technical stuff and will get away with not having to knead your clay or finish your pieces. We will have the clay all prepared for you and will teach you the basics of throwing and help you to make a few basic forms.  Then, all you need to do is come back and pick up your masterpieces approximately four weeks later.

All materials and firing are included in the class price.  Sajo Ceramics Staff will finish your pieces for you after the class (trim, clear glaze and fire).  You will be able to select your 6 best pieces for finishing at the conclusion of class.

Want to do an ongoing pottery class but need a bit of flexibility? Then these classes are for you!

Ideal for beginner potters, this class is structured to help you learn to improve your skills on the wheel or try your hand at sculpting or hand building. Come along and enjoy a fun and relaxed class while learning new skills.

Pottery tools, materials and firing are additional. Complimentary tea, coffee and chilled water is available.

What you will learn:

  • How to knead your clay
  • How to centre your clay on the wheel
  • How to form cylinders
  • How to create simple bowl forms
  • How to turn your forms
  • How to pull handles and attach them to cylinders to create coffee mugs, jugs etc.
  • Basic glazing and decorating techniques
  • Creating many different forms including casserole dishes, flatware such as plates and platters, and much much more.

An ongoing class (as above) for students returning weekly.

These classes are available at the same times as our wheel classes, but you will need to book these in through the Hand Building and Glazing specific class listings -OR- select the Monday Night class.

I haven't done pottery since secondary school, but always wanted to come back to it. My daughter and I attend together, in our busy lives this is our time together. We love it, our teacher is so patient and encouraging . We have a really good laugh and both feel so relaxed and happy after class. We both can't wait for our weekly pottery class. First week we both produced some on pottery , our second week we have gained more experience and skills. Great studio with everything you want. Such a positive experience.. highly recommend.
