Wheel Throwing Beginners Taster

Have you always wanted to give wheel thrown pottery a go, but didn’t know where to start? This is the class for you! This once-off, all-inclusive experience is the perfect way to dip your toe into wheel throwing, but be warned – it’s addictive! You are likely to find yourself with a new hobby! Fun, creative, and an excellent stress relief; pottery is for everyone!

During this once-off 2.5 hour class our experienced teacher will guide you through the foundations of throwing pottery on the wheel. Participants can expect to create 2-6 pieces, which are professionally finished, glazed, and fired by our staff. We contact you 4-6 weeks later to collect your food safe, dishwasher safe, oven & microwave safe items!

Clay is pre-prepared and provided, so you can get straight into throwing on the wheel.

Please note: this is a class designed for adults, and we do not allow bookings for children under the age of 16.

Interested in booking the whole studio for a private class? Just email us at sajoceramics@gmail.com. We have hosted unique hen’s parties and joyous birthday celebrations! Please note that this is for a minimum of 12 people.

What you will learn:

  • How to centre your clay on the wheel
  • How to form cylinders
  • How to create simple bowl forms

What to bring:

All you need is a towel! All clay and tools are provided.Although clay washes out easily, we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting messy in! Shoes are also required at all times in the studio for safety reasons.

After class:

Our staff will professionally finish, glaze, and fire your creations, and contact you when they are ready to collect. This is approximately 4-6 weeks after class. Once fired, your creations are food, dishwasher, oven & microwave safe! All work is only kept for a period of 3 months, after which time, any uncollected items will be disposed of, so please ensure to collect your items as soon as you receive the notification, or contact the studio to arrange postage.

Parking Info

Please drive right past the house to the long white shed.  Park in front of the shed.

Classes often book out, so book early to avoid disappointment. On rare occasions, classes may be cancelled if there are not enough students booked in – ensure you are booked in to avoid showing up to closed doors! We will contact students directly to reschedule cancelled classes.
