Modern Calligraphy is a hands-on 2.5 hour class, where you will learn the basics of modern pointed pen calligraphy. Christina will guide you through the following modules:

  • Proper Positioning + Posture
  • Foundational Shape Exercises
  • Introductory Script Basics
  • Developing Individual Style

Learn this lost art form while having some fun, meeting other makers, and relaxing through this relaxing and meditative activity. Lefties, complete beginners, and those who have “chicken scratch” are more than welcome!

Who is Christina Luo?

Fox & Flourish is a small design studio specialising in calligraphy and creative services run by Christina Luo. Having studied under the careful hands of world-renowned calligraphers, Christina infuses traditional techniques with a modern sensibility. She recently relocated to Melbourne from Vancouver, designing letters, teaching workshops, and hanging out with her Shiba Inu/Eskimo pup, Margot.

  • Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

What to bring
  • Calligraphy is not too messy, but we will be working with waterproof black ink which could spill or splatter, and is difficult to wash out of clothing. Please dress accordingly!
  • Please make us aware of any dietary requirements prior to the class.
