German-born Madeleine Kelly is an Australian artist of Peruvian, Italian and Irish descent who exhibits nationally and internationally, including the Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art (Australia), The Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) and Tapetenwerk (Leipzig, Germany). In 2023, she exhibited new works in the The National 4, at The AGNSW, curated by Beatrice Gralton. Madeleine Kelly’s work engages with human encounters with “nature” and elemental forces. Bringing together figuration and abstraction, her practice is a mixture of the cosmic and the material that explores the many, often ineffable, points of contact between people, animals and plants such that the material world is transformed in rich and absorbing fantasy.

Located in the middle of Rozelle in Sydney, Artspark is a sun-filled art and sewing studio with an eco-friendly garden. The garden has many edible plants, and is home to chickens and guinea pigs. A perfect place to relax, play, and source materials for projects, the garden also gives students the opportunity to tend to plants, and learn how to associate with animals in kind ways.
Artspark provides school term classes, holiday workshops, weekend parties and events, and adult art & sewing classes. Our classes and workshops use recycled materials, and various art methods and mediums, such as collage, paint, found materials, papier-mâché sculpture, and drawing media. Many of our projects focus on learning from nature, and use a STEAM approach. We believe art-making is a valuable tool for self expression and gaining independence.
ARTSPARK has an average rating of 4.9 for their other classes.
