Produce, Preserve, Provide
There will be live bees and honeycomb to look at in a secure exhibition cabinet and a discussion of bee behaviour and hive management. The major items that make up a hive and their construction will be discussed. The equipment a beekeeper needs to work bees will also be reviewed. The major topics discussed will be:
- Establishing a hive
- Understanding the tasks to be carried out in spring
- How to go about robbing and extracting honey
- Swarm control
Participants will be limited to 8 to maintain an informal interactive format.
The cost will include:
- A wooden beehive frame that will have beeswax foundation inserted as part of the workshop
- A $5 discount on the book “Bee AgSkills” published by the NSW Department of Primary Industry (normally $27.50, $22.50 with discount.) The book is recommended and covers all the major topics with excellent photos.
Basic Beekeeping Kit includes:
- Hive Tool (Normally priced at $13.50.)
- Bee Brush (Normally priced at $15.50)
- Veil (Normally priced at $54)
- Smoker (Normally priced at $46.)

Robert, the proprietor of Bee Sustainable, comes from a bee keeping family and has been involved with various aspects of bee keeping over many years. The Bee Sustainable project has been Robert’s passion since he recognised the need for the services and goods now offered through the business.
Cancellations & Refunds
If the organiser cancels the class:
You are entitled to a full refund.
If you can't attend the class:
You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
OR
- A refund can be requested 2 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
- A transfer can be requested 2 days before the class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
- A credit note can be requested 2 days before the class starts. An admin fee of AU$10.00 applies.
No changes will be allowed after these times.
