The macaron is a sweet meringue-based confectionery made with egg whites, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food colouring. The macaron is commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies.

Characterised by its smooth, squared top, ruffled circumference and flat base, it is mildly moist and easily melts in the mouth.

In this two and a half hour course, learn the secrets to making the perfect macaron and a delicious ganache filling in this fun hands on course.

All chocolates and patisserie are created with passion by Master Chocolatier Arno Backes and his team of Pastry chefs and Chocolatiers, in the kitchens above the chocolate lounge in South Yarra.

Payment Policy

Classes at Gânache frequently become fully booked, so we require full payment to be made at the time of booking to secure your place. Payment can be made conveniently online with credit card or at the store in cash, EFT or credit card or even via credit card over the phone. Unfortunately, we can't hold places without payment

On occasion, Gânache is forced to cancel a class due to low booking numbers. We really don't like to do this as we love to teach and play with chocolate, but if we don't cover our costs we can't run the class. In instances where Gânache must cancel a class, enrolled participants will be notified 24 hours prior to the scheduled class and will be rebooked into the next available class, or a refund as required.

I purchased this gift for my partner and I for our anniversary and WE LOVED IT!! It was really informative, it was fun and we learnt how to perfect macarons! Thank you Arno and Ganache for this amazing experience!

Great way to learn some tricks and tips on techniques, which is exactly why I signed up for this class! Excellent tutor who knew what he was talking about. Unsure if I’m brave enough to attempt these challenging little morsels on my own but preparation is key - that was definitely my takeaway from this. Oh, and a good number of delicious macarons which I Went home with too! Thanks, well worth it.
