Description

School Holiday Indigo Shibori

Taught by Nichola Prested

This workshop is for students aged 10+

Get creative in the school holidays!

In this 2 hour workshop you will learn how an Indigo dye vat works, fibre preparation, safety and more.  Working with traditional Japanese shibori techniques you will create unique and interesting designs on fabric samples. You will then use your preferred shibori method on a cotton scarf.

Plain cotton fabric will be provided and you are encouraged to bring along clothes you have that you might like to add to the vat in the afternoon. For example, T-shirts,Tea towels, Socks etc. Natural fibres only (cotton, silk, linen, wool etc) and light in colour. Recycling is encouraged and we recommend pre-washing your items to remove any finish that may be on the fibres. This helps the dye 'stick' to the fibre.

No previous experience necessary.

Make sure any items you bring along are natural fibres, pre-washed and light in colour.

WORKSHOPS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. PLEASE READ OUR Refund Policy AND Copyright Policy. BY BOOKING A WORKSHOP YOU AGREE TO THESE POLICIES.

My 10yo and 12yo participated in this class and absolutely loved it. What I loved is that they learn't a real skill and techniques. The class was exactly how described. Excellent value for money. I loved that they were encourages to bring along their own fabric/clothes to dye.
