Nadine has explored resin as a medium and produced jewellery for  many years including some unique resin pieces which are sold in boutiques in Sydney.  Do join her for this 3 hour introduction to the addictive world of resin. 

Working with a quick setting polyurethane resin, you will be able to select from our wide range of silicon moulds to make 2 pieces of jewellery in either  ring or bangle.You will be able to develop  your own colour techniques  by mixing pigments and dyes. Choose on-trend hues or create your own inspired palettes. You will also learn how to sand and finish your pieces to a professional standard and walk out the door wearing your very own creations.

ESSENTIAL TECHNIQUES COVERED

  • Basic introduction to polyurethane resin. 
  • Basic introduction to pigments and dyes. 
  • Overview of resin safety. 
  • How to mix and colour resin using opaque, translucent and pearlescent pigments, dyes and powders. 
  • How to correctly pour and cast resin using silicon moulds. 
  • How to hand finish your pieces using sandpaper and polishing pads. 
  • Overview on how to professionally finish your pieces using motorised tools.

What to wear

OH&S protocols at SJS require all students to wear CLOSED IN shoes and for long hair to be tied back. We recommend wearng glasses instead of contact lenses and to wear minimal jewellery in a studio environment.

Sydney Jewellery School (SJS) is Australia's leading independent contemporary jewellery facility for students wishing to learn the art of jewellery making, multi-media creative arts techniques and object 'd art creation.

Many of our classes and the equipment needed to participate are only available within the framework of formal University/TAFE training, SJS is proud to be able to offer short courses in these techniques to all.
