Description

Making passata is an annual ritual that Italians have been making since forever. Made when the tomatoes are in abundance and at their ripest, not only does it form the backbone for a large majority of meals when the tomatoes are scarce but the act in itself is family building and rewarding.

What is passata?

Its basically pureed tomatoes, that are bottled and preserved to last for at least a year, but maybe longer. So no longer will you need to use canned tomatoes, you can stockpile passata and have tomatoes that you made all year round.

Making passata is a full day event, one where you are sure to get yours hands and usually your clothes dirty too…This is a family affair, bring your kids and your partner too!

But the end, you are rewarded with a few bottles of passata, and the skills to recreate this beautiful tradition in your garage.

Lunch is the quintessential pasta dish made with fresh sauce, salad and wine.
