Paper piecing is a simple and traditional quilt making technique. In this sewing workshop we'll start with a short history of English paper piecing and then we'll learn the piecing techniques as we make a mini pin cushion in lovely cotton fabric. It’s easy, fun, and just a little addictive.
All materials provided: fabric, thread, buttons, needles, and paper templates.

About the tutor: All her life, Helen Richards has had a love affair with fabrics, textiles and cloth. She has extensive professional experience as a maker, crafter and teacher in the creative disciplines - design, craft and art, and textile design - as a graphic designer, lecturer, business owner and educator, and practitioner. She has been designing and making quilts and textiles for more than 20 years, finding patchwork and textiles endlessly engaging and appealing. So many possibilities of colour, pattern, texture, tone and mood!
One two-hour class, Tuesday 12 September 1:00-3:00 pm, OR 7:00-9:00 pm.
- Basic skills in English paper patchwork
- A general history of this craft form
- How to make a simple pincushion
- You will complete a small pin cushion to take home
- A pen and paper for note taking

If for any reason you decide that the workshop you have done or are doing does not suit you, then that is a personal decision and no refund will be given.
If Opendrawer cancels a workshop, you will be given a full refunds or can choose a replacement workshop to the same value as the workshop being cancelled. You will be notified at least 2 days before the due date of the workshop if cancellation is necessary due to insufficient enrolments.
A $10 admin fee applies to all changes of date/workshop bookings.
Cancellations made within two weeks of the booked workshop will forfeit 50% of the advertised fee - or you may find a replacement student.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the workshop will forfeit the full advertised fee - or you may find a replacement student.
