In this workshop, we learn to use finger-manipulated techniques to create textures and also how to use two colours at the same time.

What you will learn:

  • New techniques to create textures such as wrapped ends and shaping.
  • How to use 2 colours at the same time and to secure weaving with long weft floats.
  • How to weave a simple twill pattern.
  • Additional finishing techniques to ‘learn to weave’ workshop such as hem stitch and overcast stitch.
  • The format will be everyone weaving the same sample but using their own choice of colours and yarn to create an individual look.

What you get:

  • Instruction sheet with diagrams for each technique
  • Yarn for warp and weft is provided.

What to bring:

  • Your own frame loom, pick up sticks, stick shuttle and tapestry needles. (If you don’t have your own frame loom, you can purchase one from the Handmaker’s Factory online shop at the time of booking your class)
  • Yarn, fabric, ribbons, etc that you may want to incorporate into your piece.

If you are unable to attend a workshop but would still like to learn to weave our handcrafted weaving kits are available for purchase separately in our shop
