The Basic Pattern Making workshop for SKIRTS will help students to develop their understanding of pattern making and the skirt block.  That's the same Studio Faro skirt block I use to produce first sample patterns for our local fashion industry.

This workshop is suitable for students of all skill levels. You will learn to adapt industry specific blocks into skirt patterns with an emphasis on great styling and strong technical detail to achieve a professional edge.

Training will cover basic pattern making techniques such as:

  1. Creating an 'A'Line and Panel Skirt pattern.
  2. Dropping or lifting the waistline of the skirt to suit fashion trends.
  3. Planning and cutting wasitband and zip guard pattern pieces.
  4. Adjusting the fit of the skirt to suit current fashion trends.
  5. Understanding good fit and balance in your skirt designs.

Technical detail such as seam allowances, construction techniques and appropriate machinery are covered through each stage of the training.  A fully detailed workbook of diagrams and instructions of all the aspects covered in the training is included in the training fee.

The Basic Pattern Making for SKIRTS workshop is ideal if you would like to create your own patterns professionally or personally.  This workshop does not cover the detail of achieving your own personal fit but focusses on pattern making adaptations for skirt patterns to industry standard.
