Maker Therapy at Home - Polymer clay starter kit
Ah COVID, the spoiler of all the fun! All those classes you were going to do, all those nights out. Now what do you do with all that spare time? Dive into some Maker Therapy at Home with MakerSpace & Co of course!
We figured that you couldn't come to us, so we are coming to you. We'd love to help you learn a new skill, that will hopefully become a new hobby, that will allow you to wile away the hours getting back to basics and using your hands.
We love to connect people with the joy of making. Not only is it fun, but the mental health benefits of making helps to decrease stress, relieve anxiety and modify depression. We think that there has never been a time that we need this more.
We are excited to introduce this polymer clay starter kit for you to learn at home! This kit will show you how to work with polymer clay from beginning to end, and includes instruction on how to use colour to create fun and interesting pieces.
A necklace is a simple and fun project to start with, but the techniques you learn in this project can be applied to any jewellery you want to make, including fun, statement earrings.
The kit includes all the tools you need to work on this project, plus enough clay to make several necklaces. The great thing about the tool kit is that you will use these tools for almost every project you undertake - earrings, necklaces, and brooches all need the same tools.
We will be building on the project in the following weeks, but in the meantime you have enough clay to have a play around with. By playing around you will learn new skills and hone the skills you have developed making the necklace. Playing is the best way to learn.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Sydney based jeweller Nadine Sharpe, of labels Own Sweet Time & The Sharpe One, as well as being the GM of MakerSpace & co, currently works with a range of creative spaces throughout NSW to deliver bespoke jewellery workshops.
With a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Nadine has lots of training experience gained during her former career in corporate training. This experience has given her strong training, coaching and mentoring skills, which she now happily applies in the creative context.
Nadine’s workshops are technique focused, packed with information, but still lots of fun. She is beside you, working with you as you learn, not teaching from a distance and letting you struggle through. You will come out of Nadine’s workshops with a solid foundation, supported by comprehensive notes on everything that is covered.
And, you’ll have fun!
