Wouldn't it be great to print your own textiles? Without toxic chemicals or expensive equipment? You can, with eco-dyeing.Eco-dying uses natural plant materials to create patterns on cloth. It's a creative and playful modern take on the age old technique of dyeing cloth with natural dyes.
How does it work? Plants are placed directly on the prepared cloth, bundled tightly, and then steamed. Its quite easy, but you do need to follow a series of steps in the right order. That's why you want an experienced tutor to guide you, so you can relax and get into it knowing you'll get a good result.
About the tutor: The newest member of the Opendrawer team, Andrea Taylor brings us 20 years' experience in fabric dyeing and a wealth of experience as a textile artist and teacher. Andrea is that rare creature, an expert who can think like a beginner - because good technique makes things easier forever. She's also creative, fun and an inspiration to be around.
