Exploring 8-shaft deflected double weave
Description
This workshop is run over 2 days on Sunday 13th and Monday 14th October from 10am to 2.30pm each day.
This is an advanced beginner workshop. Students must be able to warp and dress a table loom on their own.
Students must bring a loom already warped and dressed. Warping instructions will be sent approximately 2 weeks before the class
This workshop will introduce students to deflected double weave by weaving a sampler of basic drafts and learn how to combine these to form their own designs.
The focus will be on sampling and experimentation, in order to understand how the manipulations of layers form the patterns and how different yarn choices and setts can affect the design.
The Tutor Amanda Ho is a Melbourne-based weaver, a guild member and has previously taught “Introduction to 4-shaft weaving”, Summer school and John Noble workshops at the guild.
Amanda Ho was participated in the Artist in Residence program at the Australian Tapestry Workshop in 2019, and has exhibited at Wangaratta Art Gallery, Craft Victoria, and was finalist in the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Awards in 2023.
