Figure and portrait

Monday, 8th January 2018. 10am to 3pm.
Ticket price: $120

This workshop will focus on learning to draw from the model confidently and expressively. Beginning the morning session with short poses, I will show you how to look for simple movement through the pose, and how to see the main forms of the figure to ‘map’ out your drawing. We will work up to longer poses, and use lighting to work with light and shadow to create dynamic and convincing form.

In the afternoon we will focus on a head study, using similar principles of looking at light on form.

I will use a plaster cast to work with the planes of the head, then we will work with the model for the rest of the session.

  • Charcoal pencil
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Paper supplied or you can bring your own

This workshop focuses on developing confidence and ease in your drawing skills through three main areas:

  • The “Right Brain” approach to drawing, using simple and effective techniques to help you see more accurately, and draw what you see.
