Description

This lecture series looks at the history of art, beginning with Lecture 1: Cave painting to Banksy, an introductory overview into the timeline of painting. Subsequent lectures will take a more in-depth look into specific periods and movements. Each lecture runs for approximately 2 hours, and more lectures will be added throughout the year.

Lecture 1: Cave painting and modern day graffiti. Are they the same thing? Could Modern graffiti be of historic cultural relevance? 
Lecture 2: The Functions of Art. Dealing with the big issues of love, death, celebration and illness.
Lecture 3: Modernism. 1870 - 1976
Lecture 4: Post-Modernism. 1970 - Present day

Run by artist and lecturer Geoff Tolchard, this lecture provides an interesting, lively and insightful look into the history of art from cave painting to present day. 

Geoff has been lecturing in art history for fifteen years. His lectures are an entertaining appreciation of the development of art and its movements, class discussion is encouraged.
