No spinning experience required. Our skilled teacher Janet Day will guide you in understanding fleece and using a spinning wheel. Course cost includes initial materials. You may bring your own wheel or have use of a Guild wheel in class and to take home for the duration of the course.

Enjoy the satisfaction of producing unique yarn for knitting or weaving projects!


5 classes commencing on Wednesday 12th June from 6pm to 9pm

  • Wednesday 19th June from 6pm to 9pm
  • Wednesday 26th June from 6pm to 9pm
  • Wednesday 10th July from 6pm to 9pm
  • Wednesday 17th July from 6pm to 9pm
  • Wheel Return Wednesday 31st July.

Course content:

  • Fleece suitability and preparation
  • Wheel types/adjustments
  • Spin an even yarn and ply a balanced yarn
  • Skeining and dyeing
  • Blending fleeces e.g. mohair, alpaca &/or silk

This is a beginners course no spinning experience required.


The Guild's aim is to bring together those who practise handweaving, spinning and allied crafts and to help and encourage them to increase their knowledge, understanding and skills by discussion, demonstration, exhibition, teaching and the provision of quality resource materials.

Our Guild rooms house an excellent library and craft supply, sell members work and host a wonderful range of interest groups, classes and workshops.

We have members and affiliated groups throughout the state.
